Malcolm Gladwell: Outliers: The Story of Success
We often attribute the success of Michael Jordan to their hard work and some innate talent they were born with. While they might be true that is by no means the entire picture. Success has as much to do with when you were born, who your parents were, and the opportunities you had as a kid as hard work and talent. Outliers dives into the world of those externalities that has created the worlds most successful people. (****)

John Kay-Culture and Prosperity: Why some nations are rich but most remain poor

9780060587062 For whatever reason John Kay's Culture and Prosperity was hard for me to read.  It dove into some financial and economic areas that I wasn't completely familiar with but it also did a good job of helping me learn about them.  The book takes a look at economic systems and questions some of the basic theories we trust.  He digs beneath the perfect economic model and takes a look at real lives and situations.

Culture and Prosperity does an excellent job of giving a grand overview of financial workings and why some markets work.
